Riverside, California
is a city with a rich and diverse history that deserves
to be celebrated and shared. The Grier Pavilion at City
Hall will be the place where people will meet, learn,
enrich their lives, and speak out to the community.
City Hall’s
seventh floor patio area has been selected as the site
of the Grier Pavilion where diversity will be celebrated
continuously…the place to share life and knowledge and
reflect on the commitment of Mayor Ronald O. Loveridge and
city leaders of Riverside to its diverse community.
All who enter the Grier Pavilion will immediately be
immersed in the spirit of community diversity through a
variety of displays, signage, imagery and linkages to
the past, the present and the potential of the future.

Dear Grier Pavilion friends and supporters:
The Grier Pavilion is coming alive as a place where diversity is prominently exhibited in Riverside! As Mayor of the City of Riverside, I am proud of this public-private partnership between the non-profit Grier Pavilion organization and the City. The Grier Pavilion will be a showcase honoring leaders in diversity in Riverside; Dr. Barnett and Eleanor Jean Grier, the namesakes of the Pavilion, are joined by other honorees who have done much to further inclusivity in Riverside. As Mayor, I couldn't be more pleased with this fine project.
The Pavilion will feature an artistic display on the seventh floor patio of City Hall that exhibits and promotes the qualities of diversity, respect and inclusion. The final design is expected to include a transformed outdoor meeting space with planters, tiles, seating, pillars, and kiosks united under a theme that artistically expresses and encapsulates the concepts of inclusion.

The Grier Pavilion will join the Building a More Inclusive Riverside Community Statement as a key symbol of Riverside's respect for diversity. It will tangibly illustrate the value of diversity and inclusion and serve as a focal point for meetings, gatherings and events of all nature.
The Pavilion will be covered by a solar panel structure that will provide shade for the patio and generate energy for City Hall. Furthering the City's commitment to renewable energy and clean air initiatives, this groundbreaking architecturally appealing structure will be one of only a handful of its kind in the nation.
As the Honorary Chair of this project, I urge everyone to join and support this effort. Please contact Grier Pavilion Committee Chair, Sylvia Martin-James at 780-3562 to discuss how you can get involved.
Sincerely,
Ronald O. Loveridge
Mayor, City of Riverside
